Acting the Fool

Explore the adventurous world of Shakespeare’s comedies!

In this lively, hands-on workshop, young actors will step into Shakespeare’s playful characters and quick-witted scenes through theatre games, creative exercises, and an accessible mini scene study.

Over four engaging sessions with David Snider, students will build confidence in speaking, moving, and performing on stage — developing expressive voices, dynamic movement, and strong stage presence while discovering just how timeless and fun the Bard can be.

Ages: 10 and up – grades 5th – 9th
Capacity: Limited to 24 participants to ensure individualized attention.

🎶 Broadway Beat!

Take the stage and find your rhythm! In this lively four-week workshop, students will explore the fundamentals of musical theatre — combining singing, dancing, and storytelling to create dynamic performances.

Under the guidance of David Fitch and Cristen Woolston, participants will learn essential vocal techniques, musical phrasing, and movement skills that build confidence and stage presence. Each week focuses on blending expressive presence with coordinated choreography, helping young performers connect their voice, movement, and character.

Whether you’re preparing for your next audition or just love to sing and dance, this workshop is the perfect way to grow your skills — and have a blast doing it!

Grades: 2nd – 9th

🌟 Spotlight: Winter Revue

A next-level performance workshop for experienced young actors!

Take your performance skills to the next level in Spotlight: Winter Revue — a dynamic workshop designed for experienced youth performers ready to shine in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.

Under the direction of Becky Hope, Darcy Rust, and Zoë Pouliot, students will rehearse a lively mix of Broadway and musical-theatre numbers, comedic sketches, and short scenes that highlight stage presence, versatility, and ensemble storytelling. Participants will refine their skills through:

  • 🎭 Advanced acting and comedic-timing exercises
  • 💥 Introduction to safe stage combat and physical storytelling
  • 🎶 Musical selections that stretch vocal and expressive range
  • 💫 Ensemble performance techniques that give every actor a moment in the spotlight

The workshop culminates in a spirited Winter Revue Performance, featuring scenes, songs, and sketches that celebrate the creativity, teamwork, and growth of each participant.

Ages: 11 and up (recommended for students with prior RCT or theatre experience)

Road to Rotten Audition Workshop

Get ready to rock your audition! The Road to Rotten is a high-energy, hands-on audition workshop designed to help young performers bring their best selves to auditions.

With RCT alumni Adriana Ripley and Owen Colley — now professional actors performing and auditioning at The Shedd, regional theatres, and even in New York City — you’ll learn what it takes to stand out in an audition room and leave a lasting impression.

Through guided exercises, mock auditions, and personalized feedback, participants will strengthen their acting, movement, and presentation skills while building confidence for upcoming opportunities — including RCT’s Something Rotten Jr. auditions. Learn how to choose material, take direction, and bring your unique spark to every role!

Session 1: grades 2nd – 5th or
